"Jonah and the Great Big Fish" Review

As a book lover, I get great joy in introducing new books to my kids.  However, since my youngest isn't even 2 years old yet, its hard to keep her attention for long.  That's why short books (that don't have hundreds of words on each page) are great!  But just because a book isn't lengthy doesn't mean it can't teach us something.  Jonah and the Great Big Fish is one of those great books.

As soon as this book arrived, my kids wanted me to read it!  So I did!  The pages are fun and colorful.  The illustrations immediately caught their eyes!  And I loved that the pages only have a couple of sentences each. Oh!  And they rhyme!  Yay!!! My girls love a cute, rhyming book!  But I love that this book isn't just cute, but it tells an important story - the biblical story of Jonah.  It tells how God called him, how he refused to go, and how he suffered for that decision.  But most importantly, it tells how God gave him a second chance!  I think, as we tell this story to our kids, we often focus the most time on Jonah's disobedience and his punishment and we forget that God gave him grace and mercy and allowed him to have a second chance!   This is definitely a cute, fun, easy book that teaches little ones that disobedience toward God leads to punishment, but also that God is merciful!  We loved this book!

I received a copy of this book from BookLook Bloggers in exchange for my honest review.
