"Mission Acomplished: A Two-Week Family Easter Devotional" Review

Easter is coming, you guys!  Easter is one of my VERY FAVORITE holidays!  We love to celebrate with stories, crafts, and activities in our home!  (You can check out some of my Easter posts here: Celebrating 12 Days of Easter, Easter At Our House, Jelly Bean Salvation Story.)  I'm always looking for new and creative ways to get our minds on Jesus, so finding great Easter resources is always a goal.  And the folks at New Growth Press have an awesome resource for my family and yours! - Mission Accomplished: A Two-Week Family Easter Devotional, by Scott James.

This two-week devotional starts on Palm Sunday, which means it continues until the Saturday after Easter.  I love that!  Most devotionals simply lead up to Easter, but this one continues for the following week! The first half of the book discusses Jesus' life leading up to the crucifixion.  The second half of the book discusses the Resurrection and our hope in Christ.

Every day there's a Bible passage and a small devotional - just 2 or 3 short paragraphs.  Then there's a discussion section with a few questions to help you get the conversation going.  After discussion, there's a "Pray About It" section.  This is simply a suggestion of something related to the day's devotional that you can pray about.  For example, there's a devotion on the days when Jesus was in the tomb - about the disciples' fear.  The "pray about it" section suggests, " Ask God to help you overcome fear and doubt by trusting in his promises."

After the "pray about it" section, there's an activity.  Some days the activity is to sing a hymn, like "Christ The Lord Is Risen Today."

Other days have craft activities that your family can do.  For example, after studying Luke 19:40 (where Jesus says even the rocks will cry out), the activity suggests collection some rocks and painting praises on them, such as "Hosanna!" "Blessed is he!" and "Praise the Lord!"  What an awesome activity!  And a great decoration for Easter!!!!

This is such an amazing Easter resource!  We will definitely be using it this year!  I love that the devotions are short - so your child won't lose interest.  I also love that they add music AND crafts/activities into the devotional!  These are great ways to really help your child grasp what you are teaching them!

I received this book, free of charge, in exchange for my honest review.
