Great Books From Christian Focus Publications

I'm constantly looking for great books for my kids and I to read together.  It's kinda my thing.  My husband says I may have a bit of an addiction.  Haha!  But I was thrilled when Christian Focus Publications sent me some books to review!  What do I love about these books?  Well, they're beautiful!  Just scroll down and check out some of the pics!  They're also easy for kids to understand and full of great information!

The first book that caught my eye was God's Timeline: The Big Book Of Church History!

I'm sure you can see why this book caught my eye!  The cover is beautiful!!!!  And the inside is just as incredible!  The book is color coded by church era.  Green is the Early Church, yellow is the Medieval Church, purple is the Reforming Church, red is the Missionary Church, and blue is the Modern Church.

There are beautiful maps (like Paul's Journeys), colorful timeline pages showing important events in the history of the church, and informative pages with information like,
what is heresy," "science and the Bible," etc.

I cannot get over how beautiful this book is!  It's definitely one I'm glad we own!

God's Special Tent

Another great, informative book is God's Special Tent! Its a fantastic book about the Old Testament Tabernacle. Each page discusses how the Tabernacle came about, what all was contained inside, what the priests duties were, and more.

There's even information on how to build a model Tabernacle at home! The only thing I wish is that this came in a hardback version.

40 Days 40 More Bites: A Family Guide to Pray for the World

We already own 40 Days 40 Bites and absolutely adore it, so I was so excited to get the second in the series!

These books are beautiful!  Full of color and great information!  Each day has something missions-minded that you can pray for as a family - from different countries, to people groups, to issues like poverty, persecution, and HIV/AIDS.

The book gives great information about the country, its location, its religious beliefs, etc.  There are even interesting little tidbits.  For example, did you know that The Gambia uses marbles to vote in elections?  (Also, I didn't know its official name is "The Gambia." I cannot tell you how much we are loving these books!  We are learning about geography, missions work, and how to pray for the world!

Books Ablaze

Another fascinating book is Books Ablaze - all about the history of the church.  Fire actually plays a very interesting - and heartbreaking - role in church history.  Sadly, books we burned, possessions were burned, and even people were burned during the struggle to spread God's word.  This book tells some of those stories.

Another great, historical book is War Child, by Maurine Murchison.

In this memoir, Maurine tells the story of her childhood in England and Scotland during World War II.   Its a great way to add a living book to your World War II history lessons.

Lastly, but definitely not least, is The History of Christmas: 2000 Years of Faith, Fable, and Festivity!

I absolutely LOVE learning about the history of holidays!  So I adore this book!

This book takes you from the first Christmas in Bethlehem, to Christmas in Roman times, the Middle Ages, the Reformation, Victorian England, and even the American West! There are discussion questions, and even recipes (like how to make a shepherd's meal of lentil stew and German Christmas cookies), and even instructions on how to make Victorian Christmas decorations! It would make a fabulous Advent reading!!!

I received these books, free of charge, from Christian Focus Publications, in exchange for my honest review.
