So here's why I like it:
1.) It's fairly simple to learn. Similar to the card game "Golf," you are trying to get the lowest score.
2.) There's strategy involved, but still an element of luck - which means lots of ages can play together! It can be hard to find games that my 4 year old can play with us. It needs to be a game where: 1.) we all have fun and 2.) she has a chance to win. Play Nine fits both of those criteria! There's strategy in switching high value cards for low cards, but there's also strategy in matching high value cards so they cancel each other out. But there's also a lot of luck involved! This makes it a great game for multiple ages!
3.) The cards are super cute and fun! - I'll admit it. I'm a sucker for cute cards! And these are bright, cheerful, and golf-themed! So much fun!
4.) There's educational value! - Any game that can get my kids doing math without thinking about it is a win for me! And Play Nine has all sorts of math possibilities! My 4 year old is practicing determining whether a number is higher or lower than another number. My 6 year old is practicing adding and subtracting her points at the end. And my 9 year old is learning about negative numbers thanks to the -5 cards!
5.) You don't have to be into golf to enjoy it! - I love that the cards are golf themed! There aren't many games that are specialized to golf like that! So its a FANTASTIC gift for the golfer in your life! But golf knowledge isn't integral to playing the game. So its fantastic for even those that have never played golf!
I received this game, free of charge, from the company, in exchange for my honest review.
