My Little Scythe Pie In The Sky Expansion Review

At the beginning of this year I reviewed an INCREDIBLE game called My Little Scythe.  My Little Scythe is a junior version of the popular game Scythe, by Stonemaier Games.  I'm usually sceptical of junior versions of popular games.  It's often just more practical to buy the original version.  But My Little Scythe is so fantastic that it completely holds up as its own game!  That's why I was so excited to find out that they'd produced an expansion - Pie In The Sky

What I love about this expansion:

1.) It's as wonderfully well made as the base game! - My Little Scythe is beautifully made!  The pieces are quality! And gorgeous!  All of the pieces are thick and durable.  The cards are also durable.  The expansion is no different.  Same quality construction and attention to detail!

2.) Two new pairs of Seeker miniatures! - MLS plays 6 people and comes with 6 pairs of Seekers.  In my family, we have 5 players.  That means that the last person only has a choice of 2 Seekers.  While that's still a choice, it can be frustrating for the kid who feels like they're getting the raw end of the deal.  With the 2 extra Seeker pairs, whoever is last to pick in my family still gets the choice of 4 different pairs!

3.) Still the same great instructions! - MLS has impeccable instructions!  They are simple, well explained, and well illustrated!  The expansion is no different.  Everything is laid out perfectly!

4.) The new Seekers fit into the base game! The base game left room for the 2 extra Seeker pairs and their trophies, etc!  I love that they thought ahead and made room for them in the base box!

5.) Its different, but not overly complicated! - Some expansions don't really add any variation their base game.  Some expansions add so much variation that it can be frustrating to learn to play.  Pie In The Sky seems to hit that sweet spot right in the middle.  Its different enough that it adds a new, exciting element to the base game.  But its not so different that it would be too confusing to play.

Final Thoughts:

If you own My Little Scythe, then this expansion is definitely a must have! (And if you don't own My Little Scythe, then you definitely need to get it!

I received this game, free of charge, from Stonemaier Games in exchange for my honest review.
