"NIV First-Century Study Bible" Review

I've reviewed several e-book versions of study Bibles recently, but I have to say that this one is my favorite!  It was the title that first drew me in: "NIV First-Century Study Bible: Explore Scripture in Its Jewish and Early Christian Context."  I love reading about other cultures and learning about history, so I thought this would be right up my alley!

The information in this study Bible is extremely interesting.  There are several of articles that really give you a glimpse into the life and times of the Biblical Jews and the early Christians.  There's a "Models Index" that talks in depth about the Tabernacle, the different temples, and the Synagogue.  There's a "Textual Articles Index" that covers subjects like Desert Law, Wearing the Commandments, Joshua and the Ethics of War, Proverbs: Formulas for Success, What is the Biblical View on Slavery, etc.  There's also several "Day in the Life Articles" that talk about the lives and routines of Desert Shepherds, Midwives, Slaves, Farmers, Disciples, Galilean Fisherman, Pharisees, and much more.  Then there's a "Word Studies Index" that covers certain words like Spirit, Blessing, Virgin, Honey, Burnt Offering, Sabbath, and many other words. All of these articles and studies really help you to understand the people of the Bible and the culture of the Bible.  I found this study Bible HIGHLY interesting.  I'd definitely recommend it!

I received a free e-book copy of this book, free of charge, from BookLook Bloggers in exchange for my honest review.
