"NIV Once a Day Bible For Women" E-book Review

I was very excited to receive this e-book for review.  I always love receiving a new study Bible! I have to say, first off though, I had a lot of difficulty navigating this particular version of the Bible.  (But I want to preface that by saying that I'm not completely sure the issue isn't with my Kindle Paperwhite and not the actual e-book.)  Now on to my review of the actual study Bible...

I really like the way this study Bible is put together.  Its a 365-day Bible, so it has a plan for reading through the Bible in a year.  This plan includes a reading from the Old Testament, a reading from the New Testament, and a reading from either Psalms or Proverbs each day.  The readings aren't long, so its very do-able.  After one of the daily readings (for example, a reading in Genesis or a reading in Mark) there's a very small devotional or "reflection" on that passage.  These are also very short - just a couple of paragraphs. This makes it very easy for a busy mom to get her Bible reading in.  You can read part in the morning, part at naptime, and part at bedtime, or you can read it all at once.  You can also choose to do extensive study on what you've read (with a Biblical commentary, etc.) or you you can simply do the Bible reading.

Another thing I really like about this study Bible is that, even though its a "once-a-day" Bible, the reading schedule doesn't have "dates" on it.  It simply says "Day One," "Day Two," etc.  This is great because I often get discouraged with "read your Bible through in a year" plans.  If you miss a day, you end up feeling discouraged and trying to "catch up" instead of really getting something out of your Bible reading.  Then, if you miss a few days, you end up getting so discouraged that you give up.  But without the dates on this plan, you can feel good about just continuing.

I think I'd love to have an actual copy of this study Bible.  But I will say, one thing I love about having a Bible  like this on my Kindle is that I can do my reading, close my Kindle, and then open it the next day and its right on the page I need it.  No trying to remember where I left off, worrying about whether my toddler moved my bookmark, etc.

I received a digital copy of this Bible, free of charge, from BookLook Bloggers in exchange for my honest review.
