"Words to Dream On" Book Review

I love reviewing children's books - especially new Bible story books!  But we do have quite a few now, so it takes a special book to make me really sit up and pay attention.  "Words to Dream On" is one of those books!!!

I'm gonna just admit it.  When I ordered this book, I wasn't really sure I'd enjoy it.  Its a Bible story book for bedtime, so I thought maybe it would be a "yawn." Haha!  But it really isn't! First of all, the illustrations are colorful, beautiful, and engaging.  Every story begins with the biblical reference, so you can read the story from the Bible first, if you like. There's also a "words to dream on" section - which is a Bible verse that deals with whatever the Bible story is trying to teach.  For example, the story of the 10 Commandments has Exodus 19-20; 24;31 as the biblical reference and Psalm 36:7 ("How precious is your steadfast love, O God!") as the "words to dream on."

After the Bible story - which is just a couple of pages - There's a "sleepy-time prayer."  Its a simple, two or three sentence prayer that you can prayer with your child after the story.  And lastly, there is a "bedtime blessing" - something you can learn from the story. For example, the "bedtime blessing" after the story of Jesus calming the storm is "Jesus has power to help you."

I love that each story has a biblical reference, a Bible verse that you can discuss and even memorize, a moral to learn, and a bedtime prayer to go with it!  I plan on giving this Bible story book to my kids for Easter and I can't wait to enjoy it with them!

I received a copy of this book, free of charge, from BookLook Bloggers, in exchange for my honest review.
