Dolphin Hat Games Review - Santa Cookie Elf Candy Snowman and Over Under Ostrich

A few months ago I reviewed a couple of fun little games from Dolphin Hat Games.  They were both HUGE HITS with my family! Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza is a quick, fun, hilarious game that always has my family laughing.  And Frog Pig Pug is a fun thinking game with adorable animals!  Because their first games were such huge hits with my family, I was thrilled to review 2 new games from their company. And I was not disappointed!  Dolphin Hat Games has hit it out of the park again!





So let's look at their new games.  First up:

Over Under Ostrich - (2-8 Players, 8+ Years)



I don't know how the folks at Dolphin Hat Games came up with this idea, but it's completely unique and utterly hilarious.  I've never seen a game like it!  Basically, you're trying to collect all of the different ostrich faces.  But you have to collect them by using a pecking hand motion to pull a card to the edge of the table, flip the card in the air, and catch it with one hand.



What I love:

1.) It plays up to 8 players! - We have 5 people in our immediate family, so it's always frustrating to find a game we love that only plays 2-4 people.  I love finding games that easily accomodate all of us.

2.) It's simple enough for my 5 year old to play. - The package says "8+," but my 5 year old can play. She cheated a bit because the coordination required for her to flip and catch was difficult, but that didn't change the amount of fun we had!

3.) It involved a lot of giggling! - This game is hilarious.  Between the cute, funny ostriches and the absurdity of trying to flip and catch the cards, this game involved a lot of laughter!

4.) It's simple to learn! - The instructions are short and simple, so it was easy to go from instructions to play very quickly.

5.) The kids can play alone! - Because its a simple concept, the kids can play alone!  This is great for times when I'm involved in something else, like washing dishes or folding clothes.  Or when I just need a break.  Haha!

6.) Its a quick game! - I love playing longer games, but sometimes its good to have a quick game that you can play in 5-10 minutes.  This game fits that requirement perfectly!  You can play once or several times in a row (which is usually what ends up happening because its so much fun)!

Santa Cookie Elf Candy Snowman - (3-8 Players, 8+ Years)



 This is their Christmas version of Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza, and it's adorable!



What I love:

1.) It's just as much fun as Taco Cat, but its a new challenge with new words! - Just when we thought we had the hang of Taco Cat and we had the words down, along came Santa Cookie and shook things up - in a good way!

2.) Its holiday-themed! - I LOVE a Christmas themed game!  We have several.  And this was was a PERFECT addition!  Its small, so its great as a stocking stuffer or small gift.  It plays up to 8 people, so its perfect for a holiday gathering!  But its so much fun that it can be played any time of year!

3.) My kids can play alone! - Again, this is a great game for the kids to play alone.  It's easy to learn, easy to play, and lots of fun! (But mom and dad play it with the kids a lot too because it's so much fun!)

4.) Its gets everybody moving! - Its a great game for those times when you can't get outside due to rain or other bad weather.  Its a fun game that involves some movement and a lot of giggles, so if kids are antsy suck in the house this is a perfect solution!


We really enjoyed both of these games and I see them being a part of game nights for many years to come!
