The fine folks at Czech Games Edition were kind enough to send me a fabulous box of games for review! It's like Christmas in May here at our house! So, let's take a look and see what they sent!
Starship Captains is a Euro-style, engine building game for 1 to 4 players that takes approximately 25 minutes per player. In the game, each player is a newly promoted starship captain trying to manage your crew. In the game, you'll be promoting and training your crew, upgrading your ship, and exploring the galaxy. But watch out for space pirates as you try to complete your missions!
I LOVE the design of this game. It's bright and colorful and fun! And it has really nice components. as well! And the theme is just fantastic! If you have a Star Trek fan in your fam, this game will definitely be a hit!
Galaxy Trucker is a fast-paced, tile placement, spaceship-building game for 2 to 4 players that takes approximately 20 to 30 minutes to play.
In another interstellar title from CGE, Galaxy Trucker is a game where you build your spaceship, transport your space goods, and fight space pirates! This is another game with great design and fantastic components! From the little astronauts to the little aliens, it's got some great pieces!

Falling Skies is a solo-player, dice placement game that takes 20 to 40 minutes.
In a twist on the outer space them from the previous two games, this time you're defending earth from invading aliens. In this campaign-style game, during each campaign you are defending a besieged city on Earth. But be careful! You must balance your defensive maneuvers with your research and your energy supply. The mothership draws closer every round, so you're trying to complete your mission before your base is destroyed! It's a great single-player game!
Codenames is a cooperative deduction game for 2 players that takes 15 to 30 minutes.
In this 2-player version of the fantastic Codenames game, you follow the same premise as the original game - give one-word clues to try to get the other player to identify your agents among the faces on the table. But in this version, you're working together as a team to try to uncover all your agents. But can you find all of your agents before you uncover the assassin? This is a fantastic take on an already fantastic game! My two youngest often want to play Codenames, but it's a game that really works best at 4 players, so this is a fantastic alternative! And I love the deductive reasoning practice and the language arts practice (choosing good clues)!
That's A Question! is a fun, family/party game for 3 to 6 players that takes approximately 30 minutes.
In That's A Question!, you pick a question prompt and 2 cards and ask another player to choose between the two choices. Other players get points for each time they correctly choose the answer that the other person chose. It's a fantastic family/party game because it really inspires some fantastic conversations! Things like, "what would you miss more if it ceased to exist: the color pink or Mexican food?" While some of the cards deal with more adult themes (like drinking alcohol or workplace situations), I haven't found any cards with completely inappropriate questions. You can also remove any cards that you want before playing with kids. We didn't remove any cards though, because each card gives you 3 choices. So even if you find one a child may not understand (like a question about how to deal with a bad boss, etc.) there are two other things to choose from on that card.
We really enjoyed this game! My kids loved asking questions and answering - and I loved hearing how their minds work and why they made their decisions!
