We love incorporating games into our homeschool and our family time, but one type of game that is difficult to find is a biblically-based game. They do exist, but most of them are either merely Bible trivia or simple roll and move board games. So when I find a new Bible-based came, I always wanna know more! That's why I was excited to do a review for Animo: Living Deck Bible Verse Game!
This game is a take on the ever popular anime type deck building card games, but with a great twist! It teaches you the Bible!!! The fabulous folks at Anime were kind enough to send me their Starter Deck and 3 Character Packs (1 for each of my kids)!
So here's what I like:
1.) The Starter Deck is everything you need to start your Animo journey! This deck contains 70 cards (including Virtuous Animo, Sinnies, Story Cards, Equipment Cards, Power Cards, Score Cards, and Reference Cards). It also contains 12 power tokens and instructions.
2.) Its small! Both the Starter Deck and Character Packs are small and compact! Perfect for travel, easy to store, and great as stocking stuffers, Easter basket gifts, etc!
3.) The cards can be used in more than one way! The instructions include 2 games - Hide It In Your Heart and Sharpen Your Sword. (Hide it in your heart is a simple card game that can be played by 2-5 players as young as 4 years old. Sharpen Your Sword is a two-player game for ages 6+.) But in addition to that, there are also great tips for how to use the Animo cards to reinforce Bible verse memorization and spark biblical discussion!
4.) The games can be played by a wide range of ages! With one game that can be played by kids as young as 4, and one that can be played by kids as young as 6, this game is great for families! Also, with a 2 player option and a 2-5 player option, its very versatile!
My kids are really enjoying Animo! So far we've only played Hide It In Your Heart, but they enjoy the game. They also love having their own Character Packs and the idea of collecting the cards!
And I love that its a great way to discuss biblical virtues, sinful behaviors, etc!
I received this game, free of charge from Animo, in exchange for my honest review.
