Aqua ROVE and ROVE Jr. Games Review

The wonderful folks at Button Shy Games have a couple of new games that just arrived on Kickstarter and I can't wait to introduce you guys to them! Created by Dustin Dobson and Milan Zivkovic (the team behind ROVE: Results-Oriented Virtual Explorer and Battlecrest), Aqua ROVE and ROVE Jr. entered the chat in April of 2024!

Button Shy was kind enough to send me review copies of both games, so let's "explore" these new games a bit!

Aqua Rove is a solo player game for ages 8 and up that takes approximately 15 minutes to play.

Now that space has been fully explored through the original ROVE game, it's time to set our sights on the deepest, darkest depths of the ocean in Aqua ROVE!

This new, standalone game adds some new twists on the original ROVE's gameplay and includes mission cards that descend vertically.

Aqua ROVE is a spatial puzzle-type game, where the player completes missions by using the movement cards to align ROVE's modules into the correct pattern. Each module has a unique, one-time ability that helps you in your mission. But you must use them efficiently in order to win!

But every ROVE bot needs a little training to become the ROVE-ing explorer that it needs to be. So Button Shy has created ROVE Jr. - a simpler implementation of the original game that even young children can play!

In ROVE Jr., practice your skills on the training course. ROVE Jr. is a much simpler version of the original ROVE created for younger players.

Movement is simpler, the cards are simpler, and the patterns are simpler.  This is a great introduction to ROVE gameplay!

Note: These are PREVIEW COPIES. Preview rules, cards, and packaging do not represent the final product.

I received these preview copies, free of charge from Button Shy Games, in exchange for my honest review.
