Are you a fan of Windspan? Do the gorgeous cards and "thinky" game play float your boat? Do you also love dragons? Would you like to build your very own dragon sanctuary where dragons of all shapes and sizes can come to roost? Then Wyrmspan just may be the game for you!
Wyrmspan is the latest creation from Stonemaier Games and it has all the beauty and fun of Wingspan with all the fantasy and adventure of dragon lore! In Wyrmspan, 1 to 5 players become dracologists and attempt to lure the best dragons to your caves.
Here's what I love:
1.) The theme! - This is the perfect theme to branch out from Wingspan! We're still dealing with winged creatures, only this time they're fantastical. As a lover of all things fantasy and myth, this game is right up my alley!
2.) The design! - The art is fantastic! Gorgeous dragons that look like watercolor paintings adorn each card. Even the score pad has water color mountains! The attention to detail is exquisite - as it is in all Stonemaier productions.
3.) The components! - And just like the original wingspan, this game has fantastic components. Dragons' eggs in 6 different colors, little "adventurer" meeples, and sturdy play mats. I'd expect nothing less of a Stonemaier game! The game even includes two component trays with lids!
4.) The player count! - Just like the original Wingspan, this game plays up to 5 players! Again, I cannot tell you how much I love this! In our family of 5, it's difficult when we find a game we really love but it only plays up to 4 players. I've always appreciated that Stonemaier games play 5 or more. In fact, I cannot think of a single Stonemaier game that doesn't have a max player count of at least 5!
5.) The rulebook! - In another Stonemaier tradition, the rulebook is clear, easy to understand, and well-produced. They do a bang-up job on rulebooks, and I always know the instructions will be clear and easy to understand. And if you ever have a question, they have a separate Facebook page for EACH game they make! You can join the Wyrmspan page and the Stonemaier folks are there to answer questions about rules and gameplay! It’s a wonderful community that they've created!
If you're looking for a new game to try, you cannot go wrong with a Stonemaier game! The production value is always top notch. The art is always incredible. And the instructions are always easy to follow. So if you love Wingspan - or if you're a fan of dragon lore - give Wyrmspan a try! I don't think you'll regret it!
