I love big, board games that have lots of components. They're definitely fun. But sometimes I just want a nice, fun card game. Card games are fantastic because they're usually easy to learn, take up little space, are easy to set up, and are very portable. So I was excited to try a new card game that I'd never played before: Red7, by Asmadi!
Red7 is a fun, colorful card game that really gets you thinking! You win the game by playing the highest number card. Cards of the same number are judged based on color. Red is the strongest and Violet is the weakest. So a Red #5 card would beat a violet #5 card. Seems too simple, right? But the you can change the rules! Each color card is a different rule. So just when you think you're winning, someone can change the rules and you lose!
Here's what I love about the game:
1.) Its colorful and fun! - I LOVE a colorful game and this one has all the colors of the rainbow!
2.) Speaking of the ROYGBIV, this game is a great game to play when you're learning the colors of the rainbow! Because the color strengths are in ROYGBIV order, the game is a great way to commit those to memory!
3.) It's actually pretty simple to play. - Although there are 7 different rules, you don't have to commit them to memory. The rule for each card is WRITTEN ON THAT CARD! That makes it easy to follow!
4.) It really makes you think. - Although the game is simple enough for kids to play, it does involve quite a bit of strategy. You have to balance playing cards that will help you win the round with playing new rules. Rules can help you win a round, but they can also help someone else lose a round! So you can get strategic in how you play your cards!
5.) There are advanced rules! - I love a game with advanced rules! Sometimes you can play a favorite game so many times that you get too good at it. And then it can become boring. But a game with advanced rules - like Red7 - allows you to change things up and add in new levels of difficulty so that the game stays fresh!
I received this game, free of charge, in exchange for my honest review.
