Big Bad Fables is a super cute deck building game that has a “novice play” mode and an “advanced play” mode! That means you can introduce it to friends and family that have no experience with deck building games! In fact, the creator actually created this game to teach his wife about deck building games! It became such a popular game for their game nights with friends, that he decided to produce it! I absolutely LOVE that!!! And I love that this is how new games get invented!
So what is Big Bad Fables like? -
1.) It’s a deck building game for 2-4 players.
2.) It has 3 gameplay variations, plus a cooperative version! That’s a lot of gameplay flexibility! The Kickstarter page states: “The variations are meant to ease newcomers into the mechanics of deck building while providing experienced players something extra to think about as they shape their decks.” - I love that this means experienced players can play with beginners without getting board! And beginners can play without getting overwhelmed!
3.) There are 194 cards, including lots of fun characters - like the Big Bad Wolf, 3 Little Pigs, Fairy Godmother, Dormouse, and 3 Blind Mice.
4,) The deck building component and the advanced gameplay option makes it seem like a good fit for adults. But the fun fable theme and the novice gameplay option also seem to make it a good for for kids. So it seems like a great family game. And the advanced player options means the game can grow with you as your family's knowledge of the deck building concept grows.

I received this game prototype, free of charge from Big Bad Fables, in exchange for my honest review.
