One of the best things you can do for your kids is to get them into God's Word early. Bible story books and other resources are FABULOUS helps in this area! But once they are old enough to read, a child's study Bible is a great way to get them excited about studying God's Word for themselves! And the HCSB Illustrated Study Bible is a great option!
There were so many things that I loved about this kids' study Bible! To begin with, as soon as it arrived I was in love with the cover! Its colorful, fun, and engaging! Perfect for kids! Secondly, its the popular HCSB translation. Its a fairly easy-to-understand version, which makes it great for kids! The words of Jesus are in red, which is also great for kids! The beginning of the Bible also has an "ABC's of Becoming a Christian" page. (Admit you are a sinner, Believe that Jesus is God's Son & that God offers forgiveness of sins, and Confess your faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.) I love this because it not only explains salvation in a simple way, with several Bible verses, but its also a great help for parents that want to discuss salvation with their kids but are afraid of making the topic "too confusing." There's also a Bible Dictionary for Kids that details some Bible characters and places.
And then, throughout the Bible their are several, lovely and colorful study helps. There are maps, a list of the 10 plagues, a list of the 10 Commandments, a list of Old Testament books of History, a Genealogy of King David, a color page of Biblical musical instruments, and many other helps. There's even 3 pages of "Bible Skills" by age/grade so that your kids can test their Bible knowledge. If you are a homeschooler, this is also a great way to gauge what types of things you'd like to teach your child each year in Bible class!!!
If you are looking for a great, colorful, study Bible for your kids, give this one a try!
