"The Carols of Christmas" Book Review

Is it Christmastime yet? Haha!  I know, I know.  That's crazy, right?  But seriously, I love Christmas. And I love info on the traditions and history behind our Christmas traditions.  So I was more than willing to review "The Carols of Christmas: A Celebration of the Surprising Stories Behind Your Favorite Holiday Songs."

Mr. Gant gives the background and explanations for 21 Christmas songs, from religious classics like, "Away in a Manger," to secular songs, like "Jingle Bells!"

There were many interesting bits of info in this book.  For example, the writer of Jingle Bells served in the Confederate Army, while his father served in the Union Army.  That story, alone, is interesting.  But I also had no idea "Jingle Bells" was that old!  I'd assumed it was written around the same time as "White Christmas" and other Christmas classics.

While the book can sometimes be a bit long to wade through, it's an interesting read.  And it will provide some great inside into Christmas songs you e dung your entire life.

I received a digital copy of this book, free of charge, from BookLook Bloggers, in exchange for my honest review.
