Summer Reading (from Zonderkidz) for You and Your Child

Its summertime!  That means swimming, playing outside, barbeques, and ice cream!  But it can also mean extra time for snuggling and reading with your little ones!  The fabulous folks at Zonderkidz have sent me some of their newest releases to share with you!

The Fourth of July is quickly approaching!  And that means lots of red, white, and blue decorations and patriotism!  God Bless America is a wonderful little board book to help you share your love of this country with your little one! Follow Henry and his family as they travel across the USA and see the Statue of Liberty, Mount Rushmore, Hollywood, and Washington, DC!

On these warm summer nights, as you snuggle with your little one after afternoons at the zoo, the park, or the beach, read them a book talks about all of the wonderful things that God created!  7 Days Of Awesome tells the story of creation in a fun rhyme!  Learn about all the great and creative things that God made - including fish that can fly and birds that can swim!

Little One, God Made You Special is another great board book!  With precious illustrations of baby animals with their mommy or daddy, the book tells all about how God made them special and unique - from their wiggly nose to their silly laugh.  (This book was written by Amy Warren Hilliker, the daughter of Pastor Rick Warren.)

Another great bedtime book is Counting Blessings.  Its soothing illustrations of a precious little bunny and the repetitive action of "counting" the blessings - "nine stars twinkling bright. Ten kisses: nighty night" - will lull them to peaceful sleep. Its also a great way to teach your little one about thankfulness.

Lastly, no children's book collection is complete without some Berenstain Bears!  The Caring And Sharing Treasury (which releases on July 5, 2016) is a collection of 5 great Berenstain books that will tech your children how to love others.  The books include: "Jobs Around Town," "Get Involved," The Berenstain Bears Love Their Neighbors," "Gossip Gang," and "The Biggest Brag." A collection like this - all together in one binding - is perfect to take on vacation or a trip to Grandma and Grandpa's house!  Five bedtime stories in one package!

And lastly, when school is about to start back in August, get your kids a copy of The Berenstain Bears: School Time Blessings. The book tells the story of Brother, Sister, and Honey Bear and their fears about starting school - fear of being away from family, fear of not understanding math or remembering history.  Mama and Papa Bear lovingly listen to their worries and fears and comfort them.  Then Mama reminds them that they can also go to God when they are afraid!  There's even a Bible verse they can memorize! Psalm 34:4 - "I sought the Lord, and He answered me; He delivered me from all my fears." Its the perfect book to help them ease those "beginning of the school year" fears.
